As all of you probably know by now, from the 12th to the 18th of October they are having a Buy 2 Get 1 sale at Toys R Us for all videogames.
Of course, I planned to take advantage of this situation seeing as how both Dead Space and SOCOM: Confrontation come out this week.
So today I went to Toys R Us ready to buy both games and get some random one free. However, to my surprise, I found none of them at the store. So I asked the attendant and he told me that if they were to be released today, they might get here in a day or two, and that I should probably double check the shipping date on their site.
So I went home and did that, only to find out that they won't be getting Dead Space till the 20th, which is too late for the sale to take effect, and Confrontation won't be out till the 17th, which does not matter since I planned to get both games at the same time, not just one.
So now I am completely pissed. Especially since Best Buy and Circuit City will apparently have both games on stock by tomorrow.
So yeah, I just needed to rant a little bit.

And oh yeah, if you don't see it out, ask them to check in the back. We usually have our new games sitting on a "New Releases" shelf until release day. Occasionally they forget to put those out.

Don't listen to Mike! He's an employee, he says, and he says that employees are wrong 90% of the time! How can you trust what he says?!

@A.D. Olson: Ha ha, I guess I should say the "drone" employees who just work in that section cause' they can work a register. There's only 2 employees, me and one other guy in my section, that know ANYTHING about games.

@Mike Hartnett: Thanks for letting me know. God I was getting pissed from thinking how I was going to have to let such a great sale go by.

@TwIsTeD_MiNd: Yeah. I can't guarantee anything but I do think you've got a shot. I'm gonna try and snag one of those games as well so they BETTER be there. =)

Could he not just buy 3 full-priced games, then take one unopened game back and exchange it for Dead Space later on if it happens to be delayed past the end of the sale at his particular store?

@A.D. Olson: You get back what you pay, so he would have to return one of the games that he payed for. It can't be the free one. But yes, that might work. I'll try and verify that tomorrow.

@Mike Hartnett: That doesn't change anything then - just matters the order that he has them scanned in. So pick a crap game and scan it first, then scan the ones he wants to keep. Should work, I'd think. It would work at WalMart if they ever had a sale like that. Which they won't. Because they're WalMart. And they suck.

@A.D. Olson: I'm not sure if the order has anything to do with it. I've had that problem with customers before. Then again, I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm right. =) Anyway, it doesn't hurt to try. =)

Well then I have no clue what you're talking about. On CheapAssGamer, they said that you can do this deal as many times as you want, but you have to make sure you scan them in groups of 3, as the first two will scan at $59.99, and the third at $0 (assuming all are full-priced or same-priced games). I don't see how TRU could get away with accepting a game as a return and not paying anything to the customer for it because it said $0 on the receipt, especially if said customer only asks for a return. But I don't work there, and we don't have one here. I've only returned software to Zellers, EB Games, Blockbuster, and WalMart, and none of them had any special circumstances. I guess Twisted should just ask them in the store - or hope that Dead Space arrives tomorrow (like all my local stores say it will).

@jumelicius: Well, apparently this isn't allowed at all but the girl at customer service is gonna do it anyway, especially considering that my reciepts for PURE and NHL 09 are over a month old. If you have 1 or 2 receipts then I guess it wouldn't hurt to cruise on over. If you do come over I'll make a call to customer service to ask if she'll do it for you. Like I said, we're not really supposed to do it, but I'll ask if she can do it for a friend. Heck, I may even add in a "Pretty please!". =) =)

Don't fret, I think he's (the employee) 100% wrong. I work at Toys "R" Us and there's a very good chance that it SHOULD be there the day after. I have 2 past receipts and I plan on using this sale to get my third. Be glad that you've got a guy (me) on the inside. ;) Keep trying throughout the week. 9 times out of 10 the employees are wrong. There IS still hope! =)
