Been ages since I last blogged, rereading that Heavy Rain post fills me with disgust... Heavy Rain, in retrospect, was a crushing disappointment.

The following months, for me, were relatively devoid of gameplay. Save for the occasional MW2 match and brutally crushed enfilade into Demon's Souls. This was all mainly due to the nature of school, as learning metastasized into every crevice of free time.

During this hiatus, various things of varying importance happened. Notably, the acquisition of a transport by myself. Currently ongoing is the gritty procurement of employment. Although to the grizzled gentlemen of this fair site, the dire nature of that field is naturally apparent.

Recently, with the winding down of my junior year (two negligible days left) and with a wealth of free time, I endeavored to pick up some new games. In fact, I had painfully missed the release of a few titles during my... To use an ornate word, "furlough."

Watching E3 in disgust last week, midway through the Sony show I decided that my PSP was more trouble than it was worth. So I packed it up, along with a few games (chiefly Heavy Rain, gah) and ran down to Gamestop with a friend.

Hands down, best time I have ever spent in Gamestop. Totally pressure free saleswoman (I remarked about how relaxed our transaction was, and ended up purchasing a GI subscription for the sheer irony that I asked her if she was going to force it on me), ran into some kind dudes who had graduated our school the previous year. Shot the piss (or whatever the expression is, I hate "chew the fat") with my friend for a good half hour, deliberating over all the games we could buy. Ended up purchasing Red Dead Redemption, 3D Dot Game Heroes, and Assassin's Creed 2. With that subscription and a New Vegas (Special Edition, of course- DLC be damned) Preorder for good measure.

So the past week has been mighty.

If any of you guys want to start playing some games, hit me up on the PSN, or add me for that matter (Dana, I really didn't know I was spoiling Heavy Rain).

Take care.

The experience of Heavy Rain vs retrospective criticism are two separate yet valid things. It was and is something I think everyone ought to try, as Josh said. It doesn't hold up as a story when you look back and pick at it, but it was a deviation of gameplay and tried things that haven't been done, or done with less heart. It was flawed, but mostly noticeable in hindsight.

I agree Heavy Rain is worth the experience. I'm also on the job hunt so can't afford much right now but theres so much to choose from. I'm going to try to trade LBP towards Red Dead I think since the online doesn't work for me. I'll add you...a community game event is brewing it seems.

Edit: This cosplay cannot go unmentioned.
