SCEA has just announced the next six games to get the Greatest Hits treatment. As of June 16, 2009 the MRSP will be lowered to $29.99 on these titles.
"Games deemed 'Greatest Hits' have reached a significant sales threshold. This latest selection features several critically acclaimed titles, including Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Metal Gear Solid 4, which represent the high caliber of quality software that is available on the PS3 system," said Scott A. Steinberg, vice president, product marketing, SCEA. "We're looking forward to making this group of best sellers even more accessible to consumers, while we continue to deliver more value to the overall PS3 platform."

@Colin McFedran: an awesome game, snap it up toute suite!
I'm still not paying $30 for a demo (i.e. GT5P). I'll save my loonies for the full release

@Watchmann: I got GT5P for $50 including a DualShock at a sale FS had on when they launched the game. Great deal considering but yeah...haven't played it in MONTHS. Maybe if I had a wheel like Dana I'd find the game easier/more fun.

There are almost 80 cars in GT5P, and all of them handle differently. 16-player online, new content via patches.. There is more content in GT5P than many other "complete" racing games. The only thing it really lacks is an abundance of tracks, but I honestly haven't noticed it.
(BTW, the actual demo had only 7 cars.)
Definitely worth it with a decent wheel. I wouldn't play it otherwise. I am anxious to move into the new place and set it back up.

@Dana Olson: a robust demo, to be sure, but I still can't justify the expense, knowing that the full game is on the horizon. That, and I have way too many games to catch up on.

Battlefield, Devil May Cry and Army of Two are currently selling at my local Wal-Mart for $19.99, so this is actually raising the prices where I'm at. :(

@Mike Cummins: MRSP is lowered which I assume means that Retailers can sell for less and still get the same cut they had before in terms of profit.

Greatest Hits SHOULD be $19.99. Games drop to $30 quickly (third-party, anyhow) as it is. $20 seems right, to me. Especially in this economy.

Definitely cool news. I know Devil May Cry 4 is already down to $30 before even hitting "Greatest Hit" status.
