We're no Microsoft site, but it is E3 time, and it's probably a good idea for you to know what's up. And so, here's the summary of Microsoft's press conference.
Some The Beatles Rock Band songs shown in a trailer. This game is also coming to PS3.
All You Need Is Love is exclusive DLC on Xbox Live.
Tony Hawk comes out and talks about Ride. Video promoting the game and board. Another multi-platform title.
Modern Warfare 2 trailer shown, along with a live gameplay demonstration of snowy levels. Looks good. This will be on PS3 also, including two map packs that will release as timed-exclusives on Xbox Live.
Square Enix reps took stage to talk about Final Fantasy XIII and demonstrate it running on the 360. They reveal the Odin summon. Spring 2010 release targeted. Also on PS3.
Finally they are getting to exclusives, for the remainder of the conference.
Cliffy B comes out to announce an XBLA title from Epic, announcing the previously-announced side-scroller, Shadow Complex. Looks good.
Joyride, by Big Park, shown for XBLA. You use your Crackdown 2 announced, trailer shown.
Left4Dead 2 trailer, coming November 17th on PC (and 360).
Splinter Cell Conviction trailer shown, live gameplay demonstration by Ubisoft. Releasing in the fall.
Turn Ten is officially working on Forza Motorsport 3. Trailer shown. 60pfs, claiming it's the best-looking racing game on any console. I kinda doubt that, but whatever. Comes out in October. Worst racing trailers ever (but "at least they are real-time, unlike Sony's!")
Bungie out on stage, demonstrating Halo 3: ODST. What a shocker. Did not expect Halo at E3! September 22nd release date.
Wow, Bungie is working on another Halo game, and they show another trailer! Halo: Reach, as leaked on Microsoft's site. Coming 2010. TWO Halo games in ONE E3!? Amazing. Sony, be scared.
Alan Wake finally being shown, after all these years. Trailer, as well as gameplay footage. Guy has unprecedented flashlight-aiming and steadiness skills. It looks, to me, like a cross between Silent Hill, Obscure, and Resident Evil. Could be good, could suck. Coming Spring 2010.
Music is coming to Xbox Live. Partnership with last.fm announced. Free access for Xbox Live Gold members.
Netflix mentioned again. Partnership with Sky for the UK also confirmed. Live TV viewing supported.
Relaunching their video service as Zune Video, videos in 1080p. All movies and TV shows can be watched instantly. Supporting 18 new countries. Sony could learn something from this whole "more-than-one-country" thing.
Able to share media with friends, in a virtual living room. Hey, I've heard something like this before... It is one of the failed promises of PlayStation Home.
Facebook partnership announced, demonstrated by Felicia Day. So now you can see all of the emo and drunken pics of your out-of-touch high school classmates on your 360!
You can post screenshots from games to Facebook, launching with a future Tiger Woods game.
Twitter integration announced for 360 as well, along with Facebook in the fall. I can't wait to stop following all of my 360-owning Twitter friends when they start spamming stupid messages about what game they're playing.
Kojima is on stage. "Meadow Gill Solid" (as per Don Mattrick) is coming to Xbox 360. Metal Gear Solid: Rising: Lightning Bolt Action is the name of the title, arriving on the 360. Trailer showing. No Solid Snake - this is Raiden.
Video of the new camera, motion-captured ability to control games. This seems like similar tech that Sony demoed a while ago. Also supports voice recognition. Controller-free entertainment seems pretty neat, so long as it works well.
Steven Spielberg takes the stage, says it's cool.
Guy on stage talking about "think B3YOND" ? Back off, get your own slogan!
He demonstrates Project Natal, the new motion-control for logging in and navigating the dashboard. Girl looks like she's playing the Wii, jumping around on stage, demonstrating controlling her avatar to hit balls.
Guy is painting on a virtual canvass. I'm waiting for the virtual petting of an on-screen pet... I imagine it's coming up soon.
Well, I was close... He painted an elephant.
Peter Molyneux from Lionhead comes out on stage. A video that demonstrates a boy named Mylo, presumably named after the Sony device... A girl is talking with Mylo, having an interactive experience.
And now she's touching fish in water. I *knew* there was going to be petting going on!
She drew something on a paper, then held it up to the camera - more shades of EyePet, only it didn't come to life. Mylo just took a virtual representation of the paper into the game.
Overall, a very weak game lineup, but definitely some interesting announcements in the interface side of things.

Until today shared media was a failed Xbox promise too...they promised it last E3 but Sony BETTER have some media centric announcements NOW. I thought Sony was the one going to FACEBOOK. Ugh. Twitter I can do on PS3 browser but the amount of integration on the xbox is huge. All this shit won't attract a new buyer per se but it'll be hard for a xbox owner to move on to another console other than xbox if they are used to all these services. Good job tying down your userbase there.

Its not like Metal Gear has never touched the Xbox. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance did release for the original Xbox. It was a timed-exclusive actually.
Edit: The wikipedia page states that the game will be for the PS3 also.

@Colin: I'm not aware of one, but even if that was the case, this is even worse because is suggested as an exclusive of XBox. I don't want to buy another console even if my favorite franchise moves over. The Solid franchise has it's roots with PS, Kojima would be a nobody without the PS fan base. I'm so depressed that he sold out. First Final Fantasy (from last year) and then this. What's up for MS to buy next year...Gran Turismo...LittleBigPlanet?

@Colin McFedran: you're right, but I did notice that they weren't confirming that during the reveal, saying things like "...and it's ONLY on Xbox 360!" which you would expect them to do, to drive the point home. I think it's possible that it's not exclusive due to this, but I'm assuming it is on account of what you mention. We'll know soon enough, though.

I hope I'm blowing this out of proportion, but at this moment, that's a huge shocker for me because I've been a huge MG fan and a PS user because of long standing exclusive franchises like MGS, GT, Hot Shots Golf and others.

The exclusivity thing doesnt bother me much though. I have friends with 360's that are willing to lend me the system and game for a week as long as I lend them my PS3.
There are alternatives to buying the system. Plus, I've alwasy thought of fan loyalty as rather stupid. The only reason I don't get a 360 is because of the red ring.
If that gets fully solved, I'll be buying it ASAP. Can't deny good games.

Red Ring and Live fees keep/kept me from MS. BUT...if Sony doesn't launch equivelant media centre tech available IN CANADA tommorrow I might have an Xbox under my TV by next weekend. I'm tired of waiting...hell, I hooked up my lappy to the TV yesterday and rented a movie off iTunes...I fucking HATE iTunes and Apple but there ya go.

Uh, I am not the one freaking out, sir. Regardless, "Metal Gear Solid" came out on GameBoy Color and PC, in addition to PS1. My point is, the Metal Gear series has never been a PlayStation-exclusive franchise. If you disagree, then so be it.

@c drive: I think you are getting worked up over something that I did not say. I didn't say don't post your opinion, and I didn't say your thoughts are unwelcome here. I'm just pointing out something. I understand you're upset about this, but at the end of the day, it's just games. I don't own a 360, and I have no plans to own one. If this does turn out to be a 360-exclusive, as implied, then I just won't play it. And, as unfortunate as that may be (I did like MGS4 and would buy another), I can live with that.
Let's just wait and see what happens anyhow, because Famitsu PSP+PS3 announces a new Metal Gear game, and maybe it's not just the new PSP title that we learned about in June Qore? Maybe there's one for each system?
Either way, as Sony have said, nothing is exclusive anymore, and so that's probably why I'm not shocked about it, and why I wouldn't be surprised if this game did come to PS3. Microsoft did say it was exclusive, in a round-about way, but they did also say this last year about the Fallout 3 DLC, and we all know what happened with that.

Microsoft was alright. Most of the games were meh (With the exceptions of Crackdown, nad those Halos. Damnit, I love Halo.)and I'm not interested in all those little online features, but as I've always said, XBL is worth the subscription cost and it is getting more so. I doubt Sony's conferece can trump this one in terms of sheer content.

With today's hardware specs for the major consoles there is no real reason to stay on one console. And with the cost of developing games you have to go to other hardware to keep making games. Especially 3rd party publishers.

As a 360 owner, I can not say I am impressed. The 2 Halo games will probably be good, The Beatles still rock, MW2 looks amazing, and Splinter Cell looks fucking awesome. Outside of that it was poor, spending 20 minutes on Project Natal (motion capture) was asinine. If they think that stupid garbage will be a success they are insane. They have games I want to play, but the press conference sucked nearly as bad as Nintendo's last year or Sony's in 2006.
