It looks like PlayStation Home is getting it's first core client update in almost four months and boy is it gonna be a doozy!
Addition to Home in v1.3 include the following:

*Home Community Specialist Locust_Star states:
"I got three words to start us off: Universal. Game. Launching. That's right - you can now launch into any PlayStation 3 game directly from Home. Titles that fully support game launching (like Street Fighter IV, Resistance 2, MotorStorm, and Far Cry 2) will be identified by separate icons that appear over an avatar's head and will have varying degrees of additional multiplayer functionality built in. Simplified game launching will take you from Home to the start menu of your favorite games with ease. Never again will you have to sign out of Home to play with (or against) your friends. Simply insert the disc of your choice while in Home and follow the on screen directions and you'll be good to go."

This major update is set to go live sometime in September, more than likely around the time the PS3 Slim hits stores. We'll be sure to keep you posted if we hear of a solid release date.

Hmm, still no ability to remove the Home icon from my XMB? Boo.

I would love it if I could listen to my music while in Home. Maybe they could give you a Sony Walkman and put up ads for Sony music players or something.

@Distrato: They're apparently working on an mp3 type device for in-Home custom soundtracks, but we haven't heard anything regarding that in quite some time.

This is great news and with Universal Game Launching in the update I can stop whining about not being able to launch my games in Home since most of the games in my collection don't support In Home game launching. I know it was not said but it would be nice if PSN Games would do that also but the simplified feature might work for that...
