Blu-ray Deal: BBC Collection For $70

The absolute best part of owning a Blu-ray player, of any kind, not just the PS3, is the BBC's nature documentaries. Well, at least that's my opinion. If you haven't yet seen Planet Earth, now is a mighty fine time to do so, as you can get it as well as Ganges, Wild China, and Galapagos all for the fine price of $69.99 US from Amazon - today only. Yes, they will ship to Canada, and even after import fees you're still looking at a nice savings since our regular price is $148!

PS3 Ready For 3D Blu-ray Movies

The Blu-ray Disc Association has reportedly confirmed that the Blu-ray 3D spec is finalized, and the PS3 is ready to fully support it. This means it will be outputting dual 1080p, and shows another advantage over many standalone Blu-ray players. With the feast of 3D movies and gaming on the horizon, the PS3 looks to be the only current system capable of satiating this hunger. Now, let the 3D TV prices fall!

Netflix Discs Arriving Soon

American PS3-owning Netflix subscribers have been receiving notifications that the Netflix discs will be arriving soon. How soon? As early as tomorrow for some people. The disc is a temporary fix, as apparently sometime next year there will be a downloadable client of some sort. My guess will be it'll be in the PS3 firmware as an icon on the XMB, and will show up for Canadians to taunt us, much like the existing PlayStation Store icon in the Video column.

Today Sony revealed that Blu-ray versions of District 9 will be released as a hybrid disc, including the God of War 3 demo on the disc. The movie releases on December 29th, 2009.
It makes me wonder why they put the demo on this disc, but not on the God of War Collection disc... Ah, forget it. If I think about it more, my head will explode.

Warner Bros. are offering a new service for the poor suckers who got stuck with their HD DVD player and collection of movies.
For a fairly low fee of only $4.95 per movie (up to 25 movies) plus a reasonable shipping fee, you can now replace your old format for a new, Blu-ray version. That's much less money than re-buying the Blu-ray version, and if I had any HD DVDs (and lived in the US), I'd be all over this.

Only one dollar? That's not a big deal, but is it really going to help them that much?
What do you think? Are you willing to pay the [low] price for superior sound and video quality? Methinks you are, seeing as how, if you're reading this, you likely paid extra to buy a PS3 - the superior console.

Blu-ray Coming To Xbox 360

It looks like Microsoft is preparing to launch a Blu-ray add-on for the Xbox 360 console. It's highly unlikely that it will be used for anything other than Blu-ray movie playback, so this will really only appeal to existing 360 owners who just want the ability to watch Blu-ray movies.
I'm treating this as a rumor, though it sounds very plausible and X-bit Labs are reporting it as fact.
