412 I'm not reading as much as I used to by have been catching up on some of the comics/graphic novels I've missed over the years at my local library. Recently finished V for Vendetta which is very good and much better than the movie.
As for my usual literally interests, I run the gamut from Star Wars novels to Margaret Atwood. Currently looking to finally finish MA's most recent book, a sort of sequel to her dystopian Oryx & Crayk. She's not thought of as a sci-fi writer, but darn it all, she does it well when she puts her mind to it (about once every ten years or so ...).

I'm an avid litterateur.
Recently finished House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, now I'm reading some Kafka. I have a pretty big queue right now, mixed with books of my choosing as well as school assigned ones.
I loved 1984, still one of my favorites. Winston is one of those characters I feel eternally connected to.

If you want an excellent Classic read "The Time Machine" by H.G. Wells or "War of the worlds" by H.G. Wells.
"Physics of the Impossible" by Dr. Michio Kaku is a very fun read if you like to know how (im)possible your favorite science fiction really is (phasers,teleporters, light sabers, invisibility) according to a leader in modern physics.
"World War Z: An Oral history of the Zombie War" by Max Brooks is an excellent read as well and I hear its been picked up by
Brian's recommendation of V for Vendetta is great. It is really quite good and much more expansive than the movie (which I thought was good but unfortunately dumbed down the themes of the graphic novel).
Other books I would recommend are generally modern philosophy and I wont get specific for fear of accidentally releasing a slew of Internet philosophers and apologists onto this forum thread.
Anyone else read books? You know, the two pieces of cardboard with papers stuck between them with a lot of writing on them?
Well, I hadn't read a book in about ten years, but then I got a Sony Reader from Sony Style using my Sony Points from making purchases with my Sony Mastercard. And now I'm like a lean (well, pudgy), mean (sometimes.. I am usually nice, though) book-reading machine (well, I am not a robot).
I am reading 1984 by George Orwell now. I've seen the movie (the more recent one), but I think the book will be better.
I recently finished Wilderness by Robert B. Parker, and it was excellent. I also read The Godwulf Manuscript, which was by the same author, and is the first in a lengthy series of detective novels. He's a good writer; one of my favorites. I am watching Stone Cold, a movie based on one of his books. It stars Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone, another detective.
Aside from these, I like Terry Pratchett and then non-fiction books about bands that I like.
So, I don't read THAT much, but figured a thread about it might be cool, to see if anyone else reads at all.
