PlayStation 2 Games Coming To The PS Store?
For quite some time, the thought of PlayStation 2 titles making their way onto the PSN seemed like something that would more than likely not happen, however, with the release of one game in particular on the PS Store, this may prove to be a possibility.
This past week we saw the release of BUZZ! Jr. Robo Jam on the PSN. Now, that in and of itself isn't really that big of a deal... or is it? If some may recall, this particular BUZZ! title was originally a PS2 game which may lead many to believe that PS2 games in the PlayStation Store may in-fact, be a reality without the need for a backwards compatible PS3.
If a title such a this is possible on the PSN, what's holding Sony back from releasing more, perhaps classic titles on the network? Now, this most definitely has to be a port, since the majority of PlayStation 3 consoles lack the ability for PlayStation 2 backwards compatibility. So really, what's stopping Sony from porting over some of their biggest titles for download? More so, with the rumor of PS2 backwards compatibility making a return, we at least know that PS2 games in the PS Store are indeed possible and may be a bankable option. This release brings up many questions, and hopefully we'll see some answers in the coming months.
